Just a handful of islanders have contributed money to the campaign to get a new public pool and recreation center built on the South End, according to records on file with the state’s Public Disclosure Commission.

Citizens for the Community Recreation Center, a Clinton-based political action committee that is leading the campaign for the $15.4 million ballot measure, has reported $1,349 in contributions to the campaign through mid-September.

So far, just three people have given cash to the campaign. And much of the money — a total of $1,000 — was given by organizers of the Langley half-marathon earlier this month.

Most of the money in the group’s campaign coffers has already been spent.

Public records show campaign manager Andy McRae has spent $1,362 on yard signs and expects to be reimbursed for the costs, according to finance records on file with the state.

Citizens for the Community Recreation Center filed paperwork as a political action committee with the sate on Aug. 22.

A ballot measure for a property tax increase to pay for the new pool and rec center is on the Nov. 4 ballot. The facility includes an outdoor, heated six-lane lap pool, an indoor leisure pool with water slide, changing rooms, a hot tub, two multi-purpose rooms for parties, offices, a small kitchen, a climbing wall, plus an outdoor basketball court and fitness center.
