To the editor:
Driving into Langley this morning I noticed all the no parking signs coming down Second Street. Along the west side of the street they all said “residential only.” I cannot imagine what the geniuses on the council thought they were doing other than listening to the constituents who scream and whine the loudest.
Where do they think all the people who go to Mo’s Pub will park? Why, fight in Langley for downtown parking spaces, of course. How will this solve the intractable problem of parking? This certainly seems to me to be a political form of cowardice in caving in to those people who are yelling the loudest with driveways and some garages for their vehicles.
I hear constant moans about the loss of revenue from tax receipts being down and shake my head when I see this kind of pandering to a few individuals who make the loudest complaints.
Shame on you, city council, for this extremely ill-advised and poor decision equalling the truck loading zone a few months back. What’s wrong with you people and where is the common sense of the common good here?
