The year ended with less than a whimper for Island County Fire District 3.
“There were no vehicle accidents and no structure fires,” Assistant Chief Paul Busch said Monday, looking over the weekend report. “Our first call was Sunday morning, and that was a medical.”
Despite a few patches of ice on side roads and increased use of stoves and fireplaces as cold temperatures lingered, there were no reports of mishaps on a traditionally guarded two days as people come and go from holiday parties, Busch said.
And there were only scattered reports of midnight fireworks Friday, he added.
“It was a quiet weekend for the fire department,” he said.
