Sherry Mays, former publisher of The South Whidbey Record and longtime community volunteer on the South End, is the new executive director of the Langley Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber’s board of directors selected Mays from 18 applicants, and chamber officials said she will begin immediately.

Mays, who was publisher of the Record for nearly four years, replaces Joan Stanley, who resigned last month to return to the hotel business.
