A reception for Whidbey artists Buffy Cribbs and Bruce Morrow will take place next weekend at Greenbank Farm.
The event is 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 1 at Rob Schouten Gallery, 765 Wonn Road, #C-103.
The couple’s work, paintings and mixed media works, will be on display at the gallery through May 2. Their pieces complement each other and create a colorful and witty exhibition, according to a Wednesday news release.
When asked about her work, Cribbs said that, like experience, a person is often the sum of their art. Good art resonates with some innate truth, she said.
“This is a quality which is essential to meaningful art; the successful handing over of an idea from one being to the next,” said Cribbs, in the release.
Morrow also described his work.
“Living in the Northwest somehow made me nostalgic for the Southwest,” he said. “I started painting figurative images in oils. I like oils because of the quality of the colors.”
He added that his work is “narrative” and always contains the beginning of a story. Each time he does an image, there’s the possibility that the ending will change, he said.
