To the editor:
I have a request for those involved in the Little League games at the South Whidbey Community Park; one that should be a given common courtesy, yet is being overlooked: Please stop parking your cars directly on the basketball courts.
I have asked several of you to politely consider the obvious option of simply parking 30 feet over, where there is plenty of space, yet the problem persists.
I don’t know if it is plain discourtesy or absent mindedness, but the end result is the same to me and my 8-year-old son as we have to find a new place to play. I’m sure if you showed up to play baseball on a nice Saturday morning and found my car on the pitcher’s mound, you would be as frustrated as you would be perplexed, even more so if you’d already requested I not do so.
The concrete lot adjacent the basketball court is spacious and can easily accommodate those cars found under the hoops, and more.
On the behalf of my son and the rest of us who enjoy playing basketball, please utilize this space instead. It would only require an extra 15 seconds of walking. Thank you.
