The Whidbey Animals’ Improvement Foundation (WAIF) has been helped by the “Donor Dollars” program at the Goose Community Grocer. To date, the Goose has raised more than $1,300 for WAIF’s new animal shelter.

The Goose will continue to sell “Donor Dollars” indefinitely while WAIF works on all levels to raise funds for its new animal shelter. Shoppers can purchase “Donor Dollars” at each checkout stand for donations in amounts of $1, $2 or $5.

Organizers say the program is a good opportunity for local merchants to partner with WAIF in support of the community.

“The Goose was the first store to jump at the chance to help,” said WAIF campaign fundraisers Nancy and JW Lyon. The Lyons brought the idea for the program to WAIF. The program will expand to include the Star Store in Langley and the Red Apple Prairie Center in Coupeville.

A kind thank you from the WAIF organization was extended to everyone who purchased “Donor Dollars” and to the Goose for its collaboration in the fundraising effort.
