Langley Main Street Association has begun its annual “Light the Night” project, which lights up downtown Langley and gives the town by the sea a festive atmosphere.
The organization has started with light installments on the maple tree at Whale Bell Park. Jesse Brighten from Arbor Dreams tree services installed the lighting system on the tree Monday, Oct. 24 using a harness, rope and pulleys. Brighten attached light frames to the maple tree with wide straps, which Lorinda Kay from Langley Main Street Association said is safer for the tree than string lights.
The tree is covered with 15 frames, each with 100 inch light strings. The lights will make Langley glow until spring and “the return of longer days.”
“The lights help bring some fall and winter cheer for nighttime visitors to Langley,” Kay said.
