Marjorie Gertrude Hagglund, 92, died Dec. 24, 2003, at Careage of Whidbey after a short illness.
She was born July 25, 1911, to Lemuel and Gertrude Cunningham at Bayview, where Blue Star Rockery is now located. She was a loving mother, and she worked for 22 years as a cook for the South Whidbey School District.
Mrs. Hagglund spent the last 20 years going to the Bayview Senior Center, where she enjoyed the companionship of people and playing cards and Bingo. Her favorite pastimes were playing Bingo and getting lottery scratch tickets. She was always very friendly and humorous. She also enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She never missed a birthday or celebration in the family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; her youngest son, John; two sisters, Cora Cook and Nina Trumbull; and two brothers, Paul and Leonard Cunningham.
She is survived by four sons, Albert (and Clara), Marion (and Mary), Roy (and Stephanie) and Harold (and Toni); a daughter, Tricia Hagglund of Phoenix; a brother, David Cunningham, Seattle; 13 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Careage of Whidbey and Summerhill for their loving care, and also to Dr. Jennifer LeTourneau.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of God Church, 5373 Maxwelton Road, Langley, with interment at Bayview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Bayview Senior Center.
