Shirley Jo Hunt
Shirley Jo Hunt passed away suddenly in her sleep from a heart attack Feb. 5, 2015. She was born in Brewster, Wash., April 9, 1961.
She graduated high school in Covelo, Calif., then went to Mendocino College for two years. She owned her own business for two years, then moved to Washington to be close to her grandmother. She then took a job in Seattle as a nanny for three children — Kevin, Andrea and William — whom she loved dearly.
Once they were grown, she then moved to Whidbey Island to be close to her brother, sister and family. She was a special auntie and had a huge heart for Duane Hunt Jr., Tracey McGill, Chris Hunt, Teah and Tamara Wanamaker, Emmalee and Kassidy Norris, Josh and Serene Hunt.
She was “Great Auntie” to Lilliauna, Caleb and Cameron, Dominic, with two more baby boys on the way, and all of her family.
Shirley is survived by her father, Roger Hunt, of Highland, Calif.; her mother, Cheryl Smith, of Brewster, Wash.; her brother, Duane Hunt (Karen), of Freeland; sister, Tina Wanamaker (John), of Clinton, Wash.; brother, Jim Hunt of Brewster; brother, Heber Floyd, of California; sister, Terri Smith, of Brewster; Dee Graves, of Brewster; Patrick Smith; Auntie Gayle Hunt of Twisp, Wash.; and Uncle Clayton Bailey, of Brewster.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Vaughn Hunt, grandmother, Emily Hunt; grandfather, Wilbury Bailey; grandmother, Laurel Bailey; and “Papa” Pat Smith.
Shirley, having no children of her own, became “Auntie” to every child she met, and loved them all. She loved her Short Stop family and customers and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
We will be having a celebration of Shirley’s life Monday, Feb. 16, at her home, 4136 Timberline in Clinton. Come anytime from noon to 5 p.m. to Auntie Shirley’s house.
