Susan Maureen Green, 59 of Mansfield, went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2008.
She was born Sept. 3, 1948 in Baytown, Texas. In 1951, she moved to Washington state where she attended elementary and high school, graduating from Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood on June 6, 1966. She married John Fanning in September of 1967 and welcomed a daughter Dina to the family on June 18, 1969. In 1972, Sue welcomed another daughter, Nichole to her family on May 10.
She married Raymond L. Green of Springfield, Ill. in August 1982.
Sue enjoyed being a housewife, but also worked many years in Cabinet Sales, first at Northwest Builder’s Hardware in Issaquah and then at Spokane Kitchens in Spokane. She was also a co-owner of Building Source, Inc. of Whidbey Island until her retirement in 2005.
She moved to Mansfield in June 2001 to enjoy the small town life and the company of close friends.
Sue loved reading, camping at Kettle Falls and Leavenworth, photography and painting. She volunteered at schools reading with children. She loved animals of all kinds, especially her dogs and cats and created a bird sanctuary near her home on Whidbey Island. She treasured family gatherings and was eager to host surprise birthday parties, Mother’s Day celebrations and backyard picnics. Sue dearly loved her daughters and grand children and often bragged about them to her friends and neighbors. She was also active in the Mansfield United Protestant Church, attending bible studies, morning services and helping during Vacation Bible School.
Survivors include two daughters, Adina Sue Green and Nichole A. Clogston; grandchildren, Crystal, Taylor, Harvey, Angelina and Hunter; sisters, Pat, Judy and Kathy. She was preceded in death by her parents Theodore Gilbert and Francis Eileen Stephens.
Services will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 19 at the Mansfield United Protestant Church and Saturday, May 17 on Whidbey Island.
