Vera Davis, 80, longtime resident of Mariners Cove, died at an Oak Harbor adult care home Nov. 8, 2002, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Davis was born Dec. 30, 1921, in Seattle to Daniel and Rosina Faiola. She attended Seattle schools and graduated from Frank-lin High School. On July 12, 1941, she married Henry J. “Hank” Davis in Seattle. They were residents of Beacon Hill and then Pine Lake, near Issaquah. They moved to Lagoon Point in 1956, and then to Mariners Cove in 1966, where they were one of the first residents. Vera enjoyed boating and long walks on the beach with her husband and their Yorkshire terrier, Muffy.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sisters-in-law, Ruby Pinski and husband Arnold of LaCrosse, Wis., and Elvera Freyhoff of Onalaska, Wis.; a brother, John Faiola of Seattle; a niece, Linda Olson and husband Mark of Oak Harbor; six nephews, Kenneth Pinski and wife Susan and Richard Pinski, all of LaCrosse, Wis., John Pinski and wife Kathy of Winona, Minn., Ronald Freyhoff of Cabazon, Calif., Lewis Freyhoff of Onalaska, Wis., and John Faiola Jr. of Seattle; and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Faiola, and two nephews, Donald and Gary Freyhoff.
Visitation will be Wed., Nov. 13, from noon to 5 p.m. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Nov. 14 at Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 12721 30th Ave. N.E., Suite 101, Seattle, WA 98125.
