Asako “Susie” Thelen, 69, Freeland, died Jan. 21, 2004.

She was born Feb. 25, 1934, in Kumamoto, Japan.

She met and married Pete Thelen while he was stationed in the U.S. military in Japan.

She came to the United States in 1958, and in 1968 settled in Freeland with her husband and children. She enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing, and she loved to play Bingo. She also enjoyed time she spent with her best friend, Corrie. Her family said she was an incredible mother and wife and will be missed.

She is survived by Pete, her husband of 46 years; a son, Albert, and his children, Justin, Joshua and Eimi; a son, Jim; a daughter, Janet, and Adam, and her daughter, Reilly; and a son, Bob, and his wife, Rachel, and their daughters, Nishiko and Kiyoko.

No services will be held.
