Alden B. Couch passed away at his home in Cedar Circle on Monday, Feb. 11, 2008.
He was born in 1906 in Bismarck, N.D.
At 101 years old, he was very active at the Bayview Senior Center and in his garden. Al gave up driving about six months ago.
He was a 1929 graduate of Washington State University, which was Washington State College then.
Al was a great fisherman and caught his limit last summer on the Little Su River in Alaska.
He is survived by his son, William Couch of Clinton and his daughter-in-law, Nancy Couch; grandson, Brian Couch of Lake Stevens; granddaughter Michele Lin of Darrington; grandsons, Coast Guard Lt. Eric VanVelzen and his wife, Elizabeth of San Francisco, Calif. and Dirk VanVelsen of the Florence Correctional Center in Florence, Ariz.; and two great-grandchildren.
His wife, Elizabeth Couch and his daughter, Aldeen VanVelzen, preceded him in death.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at Visser Funeral Home in Langley.
