James Vincent Casey was born Aug. 28, 1935 to Thomas and Melva Mae Bowman Casey in Conrad, Mont. He passed away Dec. 24, 2010 at his home in Portland, Ore.
At the age of 7 he moved with his stepfather John Sinema, mother and sisters to Greenbank. They spent the first winter in the Old Sears House then at the Greenbank berry farm.
After graduating from Coupeville High School in 1953 he enrolled in the Army, which took him to Anchorage, Alaska as a teletype operator.
In 1961, he married Geraldine Fagerstrom and together they had Kim and Chris. After their divorce he went on to earn his bachelor of arts degree in sociology at Western Washington University.
His employment was mostly associated with drug/alcohol recovery.
Jim is survived by his spouse, Terrie; children, Kim Marie Hurt (Jeff), and Chris Lewis Casey (Carolyn); five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister, Norma Knutsen (Loren); and brother, John Sinema (Cherry).
Preceding him in death and clearing the road of obstacles, stepfather John and mother Melva Sinema, and sister Leda (Casey) Baker.
A memorial gathering from noon to 5 p.m. June 4 is planned at the Greenbank Progressive Club, 3090 Firehouse Road, Greenbank.
