Longtime South Whidbey resident Marie Maynard died July 6, 2002.

She was born June 30, 1907. She and her husband, Frank Maynard, bought their historic farm on Bayview Road in 1941. She lived there until 1999, when her health required a change of residence.

She is remembered for her energy, her all-encompassing love of people and an eagerness to serve others. She leaves a legacy of faith in God and loyalty to family, friends and her beloved community of South Whidbey.

A memorial mass will be celebrated for Mrs. Maynard at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 25 at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 804 Third Ave., Langley.
