Gerald L. Potts, age 72, of Langley died Aug. 4, 2002 at his home.
Mr. Potts was born April 13, 1930 in Milton-Freewater, Ore. to Alfred L. Potts and Gertrude L. Hudson. He married Anna B. Baumer June 4, 1963 in San Diego, Calif.
Mr. Potts served 21 years in the Navy and was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He then worked as an assistant supervisor for the superior court system of San Diego County for 16 years. In 1985, he retired and moved to Whidbey Island.
He was a member of the Langley Masonic Lodge No. 218, the Scottish Rite, the Shriners, American Legion, and Fleet Reserve Association.
Mr. Potts is survived by his wife Anna; children, Kenneth J. Potts and wife Jo of Shelton, Robert G. Baumer, Jr. and wife Anita of Emporia, Kan., Mary Anne Baumer of San Diego, and Deborah E. Baumer and Michael Ballis of Encinitas, Calif.; four grandchildren, Becky, Alicia, Alex and John. a sister, Dolores McDonald and husband Eldon of Beaverton, Ore.; and several nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Marilyn Cathey, and a grandson, Bobby Baumer.
Mr. Potts was cremated, and a memorial service was held Aug. 8 at Langley Christian Missionary and Alliance Church.
