The family of Emil Lindholdt regrets to announce his passing. After a fall from which he never recovered, Emil slipped away peacefully at Providence Hospital in Everett on July 15, 2008.
He was born in Seattle on Feb. 5, 1918. As a young man he worked in the family business, the Guarantee Floor Company of West Seattle. During World War II, Emil served as an officer in the Military Sea Transportation System, conveying supplies and military personnel between Seattle and Alaska.
After the war, Emil joined the Clarke Floor Machine Company. He was assigned to establish branch offices in Canada and in Belgium where he directed the company’s European division.
In 1976, Emil retired to become a full-time resident of South Whidbey. Although retired, he remained active in the community, devoting a great deal of his time and energy to raising funds for the Langley Library and Whidbey Historical Society, for which he served as a trustee. He also served as port commissioner of South Whidbey for one term.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, grandson and great-grandsons, and his many nieces and nephews.
