David C. Nelson

David C. Nelson passed away at his Freeland, Wash., home on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. He was born in Cardston, Alberta, to Seth and Mable Nelson.

He is survived by his wife, Ginny; daughter, Blanche Johnston; sons, Cole, Miles and Todd Nelson; siblings, Brian Nelson, Marion Daines, Jean Card, Helen Poll and Kathleen Sabin; grandchildren, Daniel Johnston, Andrew Johnston, Julia Johnston, Micah Madche, Hollie Anthony, Marin Nelson, Bryce Nelson, Todd Nelson Jr., Amber Hudson, Karla Nelson, Julie Nelson, Parker Nelson and Chase Nelson; and great-grandchildren, Ariannah Madche and Olivia Madche.

Dave was married to Ginny in 1982, and they lived and loved Whidbey Island since 2002. David graduated from BYU in political science. He enjoyed ongoing professional education in real estate, mortgages, insurance and sales. He loved his family and friends and participated in frequent dinners followed by family stories. One of his great pleasures was visiting with friends and giving financial and business advice. Each week he spent hours in this endeavor. He never met a man (woman) he didn’t like, and they liked him, too, including his unique brand of humor and jokes for all ages.

He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, South Whidbey Ward (Mormon), where he faithfully served in many callings and assignments, his favorite being the three years he spent teaching the same class of Primary children.

Funeral services are at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at The South Whidbey Ward Building, 5425 Maxwelton Road, Langley, Wash., 98260.
