Albert “Al” Nelson Stack passed into heaven Feb. 27, 2011 in Tempe, Ariz.
Al was born Jan. 1, 1934 in Oakland, Calif. to Edward and Ellen Stack.
He was raised in Seattle and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1952, and the University of Washington in 1956 with a degree in business administration. He was a member and president of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.
On Oct. 5, 1956, he married Mary Jo Sorgenfrei of Coupeville.
Al’s career was spent in sales both in Southern California and the Northwest. An import business was begun in 1985, that enabled them to travel extensively to Asia and Europe.
Al was a member of Useless Bay Country Club on Whidbey Island, and Palo Verde Country Club in Sun Lakes, Ariz. He was an avid golfer.
Al was active in Bible Study Fellowship for many years, and enjoyed leading men’s Bible studies.
Al and Mary Jo retired to Whidbey Island in 1996, where he spent many happy hours crabbing, fishing and entertaining friends and family on Holmes Harbor.
He leaves his beloved wife of 54 years, son Ned (Vicki), daughter Mary Margaret (David), grandchildren Taylor and Madeline Stack, Ana Castellani and brother Lucky and family of Virginia.
Al was a longtime member of C&MA Church in Langley.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 7. Private burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.
