Sylvia Auleen Miller died June 6, 2008 at home with her family by her side following a lengthy illness.

She was born March 23, 1918 in Coupeville to Cornellus C. and Blanche B. (Benson) Mulder, both pioneers of the Coupeville prairie.

Sylvia was raised in Coupeville and attended the Coupeville High School. She worked for many years in the fields on the prairie and also doing housecleaning. She was married to Warren

B. Miller in Coupeville on Dec. 22, 1956. Warren was serving with the Navy and Sylvia became a military wife.

The Navy took the Millers to Taiwan for three years and then to Fallon, Nev. and Korea. The family returned to Coupeville in 1965, while Warren completed an unaccompanied tour with the Navy at Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica.

The Millers had their home built in the Crockett Lake area. Sylvia began working for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk at the Coupeville office.

Following retirement, Sylvia enjoyed her home and her family. She loved gardening, cooking and canning.

Sylvia is survived by her husband of 51 years, Warren of Coupeville; three sons, James Talbot Stover of Coupeville, David Neil Stover of Coos Bay, Ore. and Wayne Miller of Everett; and four grandchildren, Janaia, Katlin, Amanda and Michelle, all of Everett.

Sylvia requested no formal funeral services be conducted. Cremation was held with private family burial to follow in the Mulder section of Sunnyside Cemetery, Coupeville.
