Anna Canning passed away in the comfort of her family on Sept. 21, 2008.
She was born in Baltimore, Md. on Jan. 25, 1920. She resided in Steelton, Pa. until moving to Whidbey Island in 1988.
She is preceded in death by husband William R. Canning and mother Mary (Rock) Koch.
Anna experienced a full and wonderful life. She was the loving mother of two daughters and a wonderful caring grandmother. She loved to sing, Girl Scouting, traveling between her two daughters’ homes in Florida and Washington and spending time with her family. She participated for many years in the senior center craft group. Her cheery smile and gentle presence will be missed.
Surviving are daughters, Susan Gilles and husband Greg of Clinton; Barbara Ann Canning and partner Barbara Haws of Gainesville, Fla.; and grandchildren Nathan Gilles and wife Karen, Sarah Leibrant and husband Dan and Anna Kate Gilles.
