James Robert Rauch Sr. passed away at home on Mercer Island on Father’s Day, June 20, 2010 at the age of 79.
Jim spent his youth in the tradition of Huckleberry Finn.
He married Bitty Hutton, a former Sacred Heart nun. They celebrated 49 years of marriage and the raising of three children: Mary, Jim Jr. and Kathleen. He delighted in his seven grandchildren.
Jim had a lifelong career with Weyerhaeuser where he is remembered for his love of the outdoors, his loyalty and his integrity. In work and in the community, Jim was known for his cheerful optimism and eager willingness to help. His loyalty and kindness touched many.
Jim had many passions in life including hiking, skiing, fishing, tennis and cliff jumping.
Jim had a special love for his schnauzer, Katie and the community of friends who gather at the dog park at Luther Burbank. He loved visiting his daughter, Kathleen, on Whidbey Island and was touched by the warmth and inclusiveness of the local community.
