Virginia “Gin” Scott Dahlman, 85, died peacefully Dec. 24, 2003, at Oak Harbor Adult Family Home.

She was born April 26, 1918, in East Cleveland, Ohio, to William “Buck” and Nellie Buchanan. She grew up in Lewistown, Mont. She married Eugene “Scotty” Scott and they moved to Hawthorne, Calif. They fell in love with Whidbey Island during summer visits and moved to the island in 1956. She clerked at Payless Foods through two moves and two owners.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Scotty Scott and Elmer Dahlman.

She is survived by two sons, Jim Scott and Arlene, Langley, and Robert Scott and Ming of Miliani, Hawaii; grandchildren Vickie Steiner and Eric in Edmonds, Dina Armour in Clinton, Laurie Guthrie and Chris in San Diego, Rod Scott of Sunlight Beach, Mike Scott in Oregon and Mark Scott in Oceanside, Calif.; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
