Gordy Sievers of Kent, a former South Whidbey resident, died on March 29, 2004, at his home surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer.

Mr. Sievers was born in Monroe and raised on Whidbey Island. He graduated from Langley High School. He worked at Associated Sand and Gravel for 24 years and Watson Asphalt in Redmond for 14 years as a senior project estimator. He also served as secretary on the Board of Directors for the Washington Asphalt Paving Association.

His passion was watching his daughters play basketball, volleyball, and soccer for Kentlake High School. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family and employment at Watson filled him great pride.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Debby;daughters Allyson, Shelley and Jennifer; his beloved granddaughter, Natalie; older brother Brad Bacon, of Lynnwood; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, an uncle and in-laws. He leaves behind a lot of friends in the asphalt paving community that he cared for dearly.

At his request, no funeral services will be held. Cremation arrangements were made by the Neptune Society. A celebration of Mr. Sievers’ life will be held April 25, 3-6 p.m. at the Hollywood School House, 14818 NE 145 St. in Woodinville. Remembrances may be made to the Gordy Sievers Memorial Fund at any Washington Mutual Bank.
