Doreen Mitchell

Doreen Mitchell, a 30-year resident of Whidbey Island, passed away on March 8, 2004, at the age of 84. Doreen was born Jan. 15, 1920, in Cardiff, South Wales, U.K. It was there she met and married her husband, Ralph, who was stationed with the U.S. Air Force in England during World War II. After the war, Ralph and Doreen and their two young children settled in Seattle. They lived there until retirement when they moved to Whidbey Island, where they had owned a second home for years.

Doreen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. When she was not caring for her family, home and garden, Doreen enjoyed volunteering in her church and at many community service organizations both while in Seattle and also on Whidbey Island.

Doreen was preceded in death by here beloved husband of 38 years, Ralph. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann Mitchell of Coupeville; son Nigel Mitchell and wife Barbara; grandson, Matthew Mitchell of Renton, and a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Jimmy Fordham of England.

Private graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 13 in Coupeville with a Memorial Service to be announced at a later date.
