Peter Thomas Furman Sr. passed away Dec. 2, 2009 at the age of 63 after a long battle with cancer.
Peter was born in Seattle to Al and Jenny Furman. He was born and raised on Whidbey, graduating from Langley High School in 1964.
He served in the Navy from 1964 to 1968, and then spent 27 years working at Scott Paper Company.
He was very involved in the VFW and American Legion. He had fond memories of working the VFW booth serving burgers and calling Bingo at the Island County Fair.
Upon retirement, he moved to the Yakima Valley where he met his wife Joyce.
Dad loved watching and listening to sports (especially the Seahawks and Mariners). He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, projects and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wayne, and ex-wife Karen (Lambert) Furman.
Pete leaves behind his wife Joyce; children Stephanie (Ken) Blehm, Kenneth (Selina) Furman, DeAnna (Iris) Furman, Peter (Lisa) Furman Jr.; and grandchildren Kenny, Jordan, Hunter, Montana, Chase, Arianna, Kyli, Elsie and one more on the way; and siblings Ken (Phyllis) Furman, Freda (Randy) Wallace, Connie (Dale) Pirnat, and Jerry (Mary) Furman; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be a small service at Union Gap at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12. There will be a memorial celebration on Whidbey Island in the spring.
