Alice Marie Madson passed away on July 30, 2007, after a brief hospitalization as a result of a fall at her retirement home.
Alice was born on May 27, 1918, in McKenzie County, N.D., to Margit and Charles Mogen. She spent her younger years growing up on the family farm and after high school moved to Denver with her sister Evelyn.
During World War II, Alice relocated to Southern California to participate in the war effort; working in an ammunition factory.
Alice waited for her high school sweetheart, Emil, to return from the army where he was stationed in the Pacific. He was also a Pearl Harbor survivor. They were married Dec. 16, 1944.
Alice and Emil moved to Livingston, Mont., in 1953 where they purchased Public Drug in partnership with Alice’s brother Ronald Mogen and his wife Carmen.
The couple moved to Whidbey Island to be close to their two children and families.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved to hear of their lives and adventures.
In 2006, Alice moved to a retirement community in Mukilteo.
Alice is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Roald and Carmen Mogen; son Gary Madson (Molly) in Bellevue, Wash.; daughter Patty Sievers (Bill) in Freeland; grandchildren Allison and Lindsay Sievers and Katie and David Madson.
A private family service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland.
The family asks that remembrances be sent to your local PEO chapter or Trinity Lutheran Church.
