Daniel Stacie Sizer, 84, passed away on March 4, 2009 in Bellingham.
Dan was born March 7, 1924 to Stacie William and Verna Marie (Buck) Sizer in Spring Brook, Wisc.
In 1943 Dan entered the Army and served as a sergeant until 1946 and received the Good Conduct Medal.
Dan and Mary Elizabeth Wolken were married in Forest Grove, Ore. in June 7, 1959.
Dan was a self-employed carpenter who built and remodeled houses and also was a hazelnut farmer for 60 years. He loved to golf whenever and however possible.
Dan was a member of St. Augustine’s in-the-Woods Episcopal Church on Whidbey Island.
Dan will be remembered as a very kind, loving husband and father who enjoyed fellowship with others. He was industrious and did what ever needed to be done as best as it could be done. Dan was extremely dependable and creative in his work, and cheerful to everyone he knew.
Dan is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Elizabeth of Bellingham; daughter, Katherine Marie Sizer-Ferguson of Beaverton, Ore.; sister, Alice Marie Sizer of Forest Grove, Ore.; and three grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first wife whom he married in 1951, Marjorie Marie Sizer (Boyd), who passed away in 1957; and brother, LaVern A. Sizer.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given in Dan’s name to the St. Augustine Building Fund, 5217 S. Honeymoon Bay Road, Freeland, WA 98249.
