Ella Knapp, 98, passed away Oct. 9, 2011 at Careage of Whidbey, Coupeville.
Ella was born Aug. 16, 1913 to George and Helena (Fiedler) Schlaht in Mound City, S.D. She was the seventh child out of 14.
She was married to Roy William Knapp in Post Falls, Idaho. They had three sons: Jerry, Jimmy, and Roger. They were all born in Spokane.
The family moved to Seattle in the early 1950s and then relocated to South Whidbey Island in 1957, where they purchased a farm on Swede Hill.
She was preceded by her husband, Roy W. Knapp in 1988, her son Jerry L. Knapp in 2004 and 11 of her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her two beloved sons, Jimmy W. Knapp of Clinton, and Roger D. Knapp and his wife Linda of Clinton; daughter-in-law Jean M.S. Knapp of Langley; her four grandchildren, Tamara L. Knapp of Seattle, Jim W. Knapp Jr. of Langley, Aaron Knapp of Lynnwood, and Adrienne Knapp of Lake Stevens; her sisters Elvera Beck and Alma McGregor, both of Spokane; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
All that knew her loved her quick wit and generous giving whenever and wherever needed. Ella had a colorful way of “telling it like it is” without reservations. She was a good person who was led by her heart: always loving, caring and giving.
At Ella’s request there will be no services. Memorial donations can be made in her name to the Good Cheer Food Bank of Langley. Arrangements have been entrusted to Visser Funeral Home, Langley.
