The Island County Comprehensive Plan and Freeland Subarea Plan are inching toward approval after the county’s planning commission moved to recommend approval of updates to the plans.
The recommendation came Thursday, Nov. 10 at a public hearing.
In addition to updates made to the comprehensive plan and Freeland Subarea Plan, revisions to code and the zoning atlas were made to better implement the updates.
A few steps remain before the plans can be approved. The Board of Island County Commissioners have scheduled a work session on final documents for Wednesday, Nov. 16. A public hearing is slated for Tuesday, Nov. 22.
The commissioners have also tabled an anticipated public hearing Tuesday, Dec. 13.
