FREELAND — The Color Box is not a box anymore. The small hair salon that was located at Bayview Corner has moved into its new and bigger space in Freeland.
Owner Shawn Nordin bought the building on Harbor Avenue last year and it has undergone major redesigns.
The new salon is divided into distinct areas. There are four cutting and styling stations, a washing center, the “color lounge” with a relaxing view of a tranquil outdoor courtyard, a make-up bar featuring Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics and a reception area.
“I am so excited to move into my own space. I have been able to create a calm, relaxing retreat,” Nordin said. “The transformation of the building has been amazing.”
The design is modern, yet comfortable and relaxing.
“Our beautiful new location is triple the size of our old space,” he added.
It’s nice inside and out, too.
“Yes, sometimes we move the chairs aside and dance,” stylist Amy Cyprian added with a laugh.
The new location gives the style team of Nordin and Cyprian room to grow and eventually hire more stylists.
“With the larger space, we hope to expand our staff and are looking for talented hairdressers to join our team,” Nordin added.
The salon is tucked away behind Gerry’s Kitchen at 5536 Harbor Ave., but their new and old customers have had no problem finding them.
Customers can still expect service at the highest level as Nordin and Cyprian always update their skills through industry workshops.
The Color Box specializes in all color services, offering personalized cuts, lash and brow tinting and facial waxing.
“You will still find the same high quality salon products such as Bumble & Bumble, exclusive to Whidbey Island, Pureology, OPI and an extensive supply of hair dryers, curling irons and flat irons,” Nordin said.
The Color Box team of Nordin and Cyprian work Monday through Saturday. For an appointment call 321-5543.
