“A group of 24 students and two adult chaperones traveling soon to Huntsville, Ala. for Space Camp/Aviation Challenge 2001 are asking for some financial assistance from the community (both individuals and businesses) to provide four different colored T-shirts.According to Pat Westling, the T-shirts will make it easier to keep track of everyone during the cross-country trip and at Space Camp itself. When traveling with a group of this size, with the majority being 4th and 5th graders, the same color and design T-shirt will help to identify them as a group, Westling said. The group must travel from Whidbey Island to Alabama with a two-hour layover in Texas. Also, Westling said, With a group of 26 out of 800 it’s easier to keep track of which group of kids belongs to you. Westling said that optimally, each camper will have four different colored T-shirts. The cost involved is $750, and donations of any amount are welcomed. Individuals or businesses who wish to donate $75 or more would be listed with name/logo on the back of the shirt, to advertise all our committed community sponsors. The countdown has begun and time is of the essence, Westling said. Please consider our cause — remember every little bit counts. Thank you for your help with bringing all our potential astronauts home safely.Checks payable to South Whidbey Space Camp 2001 should be sent c/o Pat Westling to P.O. Box 291, Langley, Wa 98260. Please postmark by March 3. For more information call Lynda at 579-9372 or Pat at 321-6308. “
