South Whidbey peace activists will be getting a little help from Seattle Sunday.

Members of the Seattle-based group, the Majority Visibility Project, will join Whidbey Islanders for an islandwide peace rally beginning at the Bayview Park and Ride at 10:30 a.m.

Participants will mass at the parking lot, then caravan to the intersection of Fish Road and Highway 525 for an 90-minute rally. From there the caravan will continue at 12:30 p.m. to the overpass on Highway 525 Coupeville.

South Whidbey rally coordinator Anthony Vicari said he is expecting a large number of people from the Seattle area.

“It will be a motivating event for those of us on the island, and provide a link for those of us for peace.” he said.

Blue grass musicians will provide entertainment at the rally sites and on the ferry.

Vicari said the rally will actually begin on the ferry where MVP members will be talking to other passengers about President Bush’s policy toward Iraq.

The Majority Visibility Project is based in Seattle and its purpose is to support peace actions in suburban areas.

Several members of MVP scouted the Whidbey rally locations Thursday.

“They wanted to get a feel for the area and where we would all be gathering,” Vicari said.
