South Whidbey Kiwanis helps organize new club

Representatives of Kiwanis International from South Whidbey are among those organizing a new Kiwanis Club in Coupeville.

“Representatives of Kiwanis International from South Whidbey are among those organizing a new Kiwanis Club in Coupeville. Also involved in the effort are members of the Oak Harbor and Friday Harbor clubs. Member interviews will be conducted March 7-9.Kiwanis is a worldwide community service organization with more than 320,000 members in more than 80 countries, plus another 300,000 in K family youth clubs in schools.The focus of Kiwanis is on youth, with Kiwanis clubs around the world participating in projects under its Young Children: Priority One program. Kiwanis clubs in other communities have worked on projects in four major areas of need: maternal and infant health, child care and development, parent education and support, and safety and pediatric trauma. The new Coupeville club will also develop projects that address the needs of children. Kiwanis clubs also sponsor Key Club at the high school level, builders clubs in middle school, and K-Kids in elementary school.
