“The Oak Harbor airport goes on the auction block July 6.A Seattle collections company, H&L Services Inc., is foreclosing on Harbor Air’s mortgage for the 52-acre airport on Monroe Landing Road. The company has scheduled an auction at 10 a.m. July 6 at the front entrance of the Oak Harbor City Hall on Southeast Barrington Drive between Ireland and Hathaway streets.Gig Harbor-based Harbor Air, owned by Rick Boehlke, stopped operating about a month ago after weathering many months of financial trouble. The airline was kicked out of Sea-Tac because it failed to pay lease fees. The company has more than $1 million in debts. King County took the unusual step of seizing an airplane to make up for unpaid back taxes in King, Island and San Juan countiesAccording to H&L Services, Harbor Airlines failed to make mortgage payments on the Oak Harbor airport property last fall and owes $356,674 in principal and interest.The assessed market value of the 52 acres, which is broken into three parcels, is $698,461, according to the Island County Assessor’s Office.At least one company, Skagit County’s West Isle Air, has expressed interest in running commercial flights between the Oak Harbor airport and Seattle. But any commercial flights out of Oak Harbor have been impossible since Harbor Air stopped operating and closed the airport.Harbor Air representatives did not return phone calls.
