Living with lossColleen Lura, bereavement coordinator of Whidbey General Hospital, will hold a six-week class designed to help those who are grieving work through the normal process that follows the death of a loved one. For many people, it is strengthening and comforting to be with others who know the depth and “work” of grief. Explore ways of coping with life’s changes, ways to remember your loved one, and actions that lead toward growth and healing. Jewelry makingMary Ellen O’Connor will teach “Beginning Jewelry” at Coupeville Arts Center Feb. 12 and 13. The techniques you will learn in this introductory workshop in three dimensional art will form the foundation for all other metalwork you choose to explore. Basic tools and techniques for working with metal will be addressed, including piercing, filling and silver soldering. You will progress to creating a “marriage of metals” design in brass, copper and sterling silver. Tools will be provided by the instructor, and class will be held in the instructor’s studio, eight miles south of Coupeville. Supplies will be available for purchase.
