Those wanting to know if Langley is named the happiest seaside town in the country will have to wait a little longer.
The winner of the Coastal Living Magazine’s Top 10 Happiest Seaside Towns for 2017 contest will be revealed at noon on Jan. 27 on the magazine’s Facebook page, Langley Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Michaleen McGarry said. The winner was originally expected to be revealed on Jan. 11. McGarry said the reason for the change in the reveal date is unclear.
Langley is one of 10 cities vying for the top spot on the list. The Village by the Sea is also the first town from Washington to be nominated for the annual list and the smallest of the 10.
Anyone with access to the internet could vote for their favorite towns on the list until the poll closed on Oct. 17. Langley was ranked fourth on the list as of that date, McGarry said.
“If we stayed at four, we would be thrilled,” McGarry said. “We’re the tiniest town. We’re the little engine that could. I’m just thrilled that we got on it.”
Langley’s charming atmosphere also helped it land in a book, “1,000 Places to See in The United States and Canada Before You Die.”
