The Record reported earlier this month that City of Langley officials boasted of record revenue generated from visitors in 2016.
Data on the revenue’s source is now public and apparently November is a popular month for the Village by the Sea. November raked in more money in sales tax revenue, $42,527, and hotel-motel tax revenue, $20,166, than any other month of the year. July brought in far more real estate excise tax dollars than other months with $20,779. December followed with $11,571.
Overall, 2016 brought in more sales tax revenue, $373,363, and hotel-motel tax revenue, $151,191, than any of the previous six years. The year with the most revenue generated from real estate excise tax was 2015 with $89,773. This past year generated $80,777.
