Michaleen McGarry was recognized for her service as executive director of the Langley Chamber of Commerce with a Mayor’s Excellence Award pin at Monday night’s Langley City Council meeting.
It was announced in March that McGarry would be stepping down from her position after two years on the job, but that she’d agreed to stay with the chamber temporarily while a replacement is found. According to a press release by the chamber of commerce in March, the chamber made “major” strides as an organization thanks to the leadership of McGarry and the chamber of commerce’s board, which including a user-friendly website, a full schedule of existing and new events throughout the year, increased membership and well attended informative membership meetings.
Mayor Tim Callison presented McGarry with the pin, which marked the second time she’s received the award.
“She’s had a direct impact on tourism and quality of life in Langley,” Callison said. “Thank you very much for your service. You’re welcome to come back anytime should you decide you want to come back.”
