City of Langley seeks applicants for vacated council seat

The Langley City Council is looking for people interested in filling a vacant seat on the council.

Rene Neff resigned Monday, and her seat, position 1, needs to be filled on a temporary basis. Those interested should a submit a letter of interest and summary of experience by email to clerk@langleywa.org or at city hall at 112 Second Street in Langley by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 2.

Candidates will be interviewed by the city council at its regular monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. on June 5. The council will vote to select the replacement after discussing the candidate’s qualifications in executive session. If there is a tie between the four council members, Mayor Tim Callison will cast the tie-breaking vote.

The appointed council member will serve until the November general election results are certified, Nov. 28 after which the elected council member will be sworn in.

Neff resigned due to a serious illness.
