Freeland resident Andrea Downs was sworn into position 2 on the South Whidbey School Board on Wednesday night.
Downs, who ran unopposed in the election, replaces Board Director Julie Hadden; Hadden moved and won the election for position 5. Position 5 was previously occupied by Fred O’Neal, but he did not seek a new term.
Downs, 30, will serve as the board’s policy representative. She is currently a program facilitator for special services in Everett Public Schools. She also holds a masters degree in policy study from the University of Washington.
