Propelled by a 10-run second inning, the South Whidbey High School softball team crushed visiting Sultan 17-3 in five innings Thursday, March 29.
Nine different Falcons collected hits and scored runs in the easy win.
Bella Northrup led the offense with two hits, two runs and four RBI.
Mackenzie Collins smashed a home run, scored twice and drove in two runs. She also had five strikeouts in just two innings in the circle.
Lexi Starets-Foote ripped a double, scored two runs and recorded two RBI.
Melody Wilkie had a single and scored three times; and Natalie Wilmoth, Ari Marshall and Myah Majestic all singled and scored twice. Sophia Olson and Makenna Morley added base hits.
The big second inning included six walks and five hit batters, to go along with hits from Morley and Olson.
The win evened the Falcons’ league record at 1-1; they are 4-2 overall. Sultan fell to 0-1 and 0-2.
South Whidbey goes to Granite Falls (0-1, 2-3) at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 3.
