After a string of close games, the South Whidbey High School baseball team was treated to an easy win Friday, April 20, when it breezed by visiting Port Townsend 13-4 in a six-inning, non-league game.

“A good game with the young or bench players getting lots of field time,” coach Tom Fallon said.

The Falcons scored four times in the first inning and were never threatened, adding multiple runs in the second through fifth innings.

Kody Newman slugged a pair of doubles and Ethan Petty singled twice to lead the offense.

Alex Black, Nick Young, Drew Fry (the winning pitcher), and Dax Jokinen all added base hits.

Port Townsend (1-8) helped the Falcons by walking eight and hitting three batters.

South Whidbey (4-8, 7-9) hosts Sultan (3-10, 4-12) at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 25.
