The Sultan High School softball team scored five runs in the first inning and never let up in a 15-3, five-inning win over visiting South Whidbey Wednesday, May 2.
The Falcons were hampered by nine errors that allowed Sultan (1-11, 1-13) to score 12 unearned runs.
South Whidbey scored single runs in each of the first three innings.
In the first, Bella Northrup doubled in Melody Wilkie, who reached on a fielder’s choice.
A couple of errors allowed Makenna Morley to score in the second inning.
Bekah Merrow reached on an error in the third and scored on Sophia Olsson’s double.
Northrup had a single to go along with her double, and Natalie Wilmoth added a single to the SW attack.
Wilkie, who struck out five, took the loss in the circle.
South Whidbey (5-7, 8-9) finishes the regular season with three home games, starting with Granite Falls (6-6, 9-8) at 4 p.m. Friday, May 4.
