Five South Whidbey tennis players finished in the top three at the district 1A tennis tournament Thursday, May 10, in Langley and qualified for the bi-district playoffs.
The district tournament turned out to be a showdown between the Falcons and King’s.
South Whidbey finished 1-2 in doubles and 3-4 in singles, while the Knights took the top two spots in singles and finished third and fourth in doubles.
The fourth-place finishers in singles and doubles are alternates into the bi-district tournament, which is May 16-18 at the Mary Yee Tennis Center in Seattle.
The Falcons’ Mary Zisette and Alison Papritz won the district doubles title, defeating teammates Ainsley Nelson and Farriss Jokinen 6-0, 6-1 in the finals.
South Whidbey sophomore Ashley Ricketts upset senior teammate Robyn Maciel in the singles match for third and fourth place.
