The South Whidbey boys finished first and the girls second in a three-team cross country meet at King’s Thursday, Oct. 11.
Callahan Yale and Michael Cepowski finished 1-2 in the boys 2.4-mile race as the Falcons placed seven runners in the top 10 to score 21 points.
King’s rallied 41 and Coupeville 81.
King’s won the girls meet with 19 points. South Whidbey had 41; Coupeville did not have enough runners to qualify for a team score.
In addition to Yale (12:44.21) and Cepowski (12:44.3), Thomas Simms (fifth, 13:23.6), Reilly McVay (sixth, 13:24.21) and Eli Waldron (seventh, 13:41.84) scored points for the Falcons.
Kaia Swegler Richmond led the girls by taking second in 15:13.69. King’s Naomi Smith finished first in 14:32.76.
Also earning points for South Whidbey were Grace Huffman (seventh, 17:38.87), Flannery Friedman (ninth, 18:04.22), Laila Gmerek (11th, 18:32.02) and Grace Complita (13th, 18:40.95).
South Whidbey will compete in the conference championship meet at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Lakewood.
