Marnie Pedersen passed away peacefully in her sleep with family by her side Oct. 10 at 74.

She leaves behind her husband, Alan, her beloved son, Will Enochs and family (Carmen and grandson Jax); her stepchildren, Chandra Wu and David Pedersen and families (Jess Roberts and grandchildren, Treya and Quinn, and Linda Pedersen, and grandson, Brennen); her sister, Lynn Bruner; niece, April Bruner-Bryant; and brother, James Bruner.

Marnie worked for many years as a florist, gardener and light landscaper and a painter. Born in Oklahoma on Oct. 4, 1944, Marnie later moved to California and then to the Pacific Northwest in the late 1960s, where she attended the U of W Women’s Studies program. She soon after moved to Whidbey Island which she came to call home.

Marnie leaves in body but not spirit, which will ever remain with us in her precious plants, flowers, trees and gardens, birds and deer which we promise to keep feeding and watering as she would most fervently want.

Marnie had a heartfelt affinity and respect for nature and a strong belief in a person’s responsibility to acknowledge his or her presence on this earth with the humility and recognition that it is a vulnerable gift we have been given, not to be cheaply squandered.

She possessed a powerful warmth and sincere heart which she shared with those whom she loved and befriended. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by all of us.
