Welcome Home to compassionate, engaging senior care

Oak Harbor residence creates a setting seniors want to come home to

Regardless of the level of care needed as we age, a life that is meaningful, engaged and rewarding is vital.

It’s a philosophy at the heart of Oak Harbor’s Welcome Home Oak Harbor Senior Memory Care.

“Welcome Home is an exceptional community in so many ways,” says Cheryl Riveness Community Relations Director. “Visitors tell us that the best part of visits is hearing caregivers and residents calling out ‘I love you’ to one another as they pass in the hall.”

Under new ownership since 2017, the revitalized continuing care community is designed to allow residents as much personal freedom as possible through the various stages of aging in a safe and loving atmosphere. Resident needs range from Assisted Living to Dementia Care and Behavior Modification.

By listening to each resident’s unique needs, the knowledgeable staff – including a nursing team boasting 60+ years combined experience in senior care! – work with community members to customize options that help them lead the lives they want to live”, Cheryl says.

“Welcome Home caregivers are compassionate and knowledgeable and serve as our eyes and ears,” she says, noting the importance of ongoing education in providing the best care. “We consider education a critical component of care and provide ongoing training to the entire staff. To support that philosophy, those who wish to obtain their HCA/CNA license can do so with a no-interest loan through our facility.”

Amenities to live the life you want

What else would a loved one want to see in their retirement residence?

  • A welcoming setting: Since purchasing the residence in 2017, Welcome Home has been renovated top to bottom – everything from the heating, lighting systems to flooring and interior and exterior paint, an exciting process with more still to come!
  • Delicious food: While nutritious food is essential, it must also be delicious – something Welcome Home’s dietary team takes pride in. In addition to appealing, nutritious meals, residents also enjoy two 24-hour snack bars, one in each wing of the building.
  • Easy accessibility: The Island County Transit bus stops just across the street for those able to take advantage of those services, while their Paratransit division will also pick up and drop off residents at local destinations during daytime hours, allowing more personal freedom to those who no longer drive.
