The Granite Falls High School volleyball team upset visiting South Whidbey 3-2 Monday, Oct. 28.
The Tigers (1-9, 4-11) entered the match, the season’s final league contest, winless in North Sound Conference play but topped the Falcons 20-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-19.
South Whidbey (4-6, 5-9) dropped from third to fourth in the conference standings and will open the district tournament at Lynden Christian at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2. The Lyncs (9-4) are the Northwest Conference’s top seed.
Although then Falcons lost to Granite Falls, Kayla Knauer “had a great game,” according go coach Mandy Jones. The libero collected 24 digs and earned a 2.6 passing average.
Kamryn Wilson had 11 kills and four aces; Emma Hodson finished with nine kills and three aces; Madi Knauer registered seven kills; and Maya Tschetter handed out 32 assists.
